Creative Director

Øystein Kloster is an award-winning film director and trained actor, serving as Creative Director of the Call of the Wild Network. He leads the organisation’s creative vision across film, television, and digital storytelling, with a distinctive approach grounded in atmosphere, emotional truth, rhythm, and music-led narrative.

With a background in performance and composition, Øystein has played in bands since the age of 13 and studied at the Grieg Academy of Music, later training as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). His combined experience in music and acting strongly shapes his directing style — informing how he works with tone, pacing, performance, and the emotional language of a story.

Øystein has developed and produced projects across documentary and factual storytelling, creating cinematic work that explores the relationship between people, place, and identity. His storytelling consistently balances authenticity with craft, producing narratives designed to resonate beyond the screen.

At the Call of the Wild Network, Øystein oversees creative development from early concept through to production, working closely with collaborators to shape work that is both artistically ambitious and editorially clear — with strong broadcaster and audience appeal. He helped establish the organisation as a home for stories made with integrity, purpose, and heart.
