PROGRAMME - Beaver Trip to Bavaria

Een studie- inspiratiereis met erkende experts naar Beieren is nu zeer opportuun. De
landelijke overheid is bezig met een nationale bever aanpak. Ook wordt het regionale
beverbeheer in noord Nederland herzien. Het is onafwendbaar dat er inspanningen nodig
zijn om de positieve impact van bevers te optimaliseren, de veiligheid te blijven
waarborgen en de kosten niet onnodig te laten stijgen. Met betrekking tot deze
onderwerpen is van de mensen met wie we in Beieren op reis gaan veel te leren. Steeds
zullen verbanden worden gelegd naar de toepassing in de Nederlandse situatie.
Monday, April 6
Arrival at Munchen Bahnhof, driving to the Buglhof-Hotel in St. Englmar (about 1,5 h drive;
departure 16:00 at latest).
Depending on arrival time, visit of the airport beaver territory. Dinner at Buglhof.
Tuesday, April 7
PP presentation on beavers in Bavaria and beaver management.
Then a tour to different beaver sites in the Bavarian forest, a hilly area with lots of dams
(including the longest one so far with about 150 m) and to the Bavarian National Park.
Wednesday, April 8
Trip to the Danube floodplain, beaver sites at the Danube, in oxbows, and in gravel pits and
ditches. In the afternoon Isar river nature conservation area with a beaver rescue hill.
Meeting with a local major and beaver consultant in the afternoon.
Thursday, April 9
Leaving the hotel at 9:00 (moving out), drive to Pförring, meeting with the water
management authority of Ingolstadt (around 10:30) on water management issues and dike
protection methods. After lunch meeting with the head of the county farmers association
(around 14:00) in the field.
Then (depending on time) “the end of a trapped beaver” in Karlshuld, Neuburg an der
Donau,
meeting with the local nature conservation administration, and Haus im MOOS (where
beaver management in Bavaria began), visiting European Bisons.(Wisent)
Moving on to the Hotel Stadthof in Treuchtlingen (about 1,25h drive).
Friday, April 10
Looking at different beaver territories in Middle Frankonia. Guide will be Ulrich Meßlinger, a
biologist who has been investigating the sites for more than 25 years.
Saturday 11 april, day of leaving
Leaving for the Munchen Haubtbahnhof (x hr drive) . If time allows, we can look at the
“Müller-museum” in Solnhofen (with some of the Archaeopteryx fossils), at a beaver site in
the Isar forest north of Munich and visit the “airport beaver” right next to the airport– living
in a nice, but very noisy territory.
All points are open to changes depending on needs of participants.
During the trip
A joint presentation from Leo Linnartz (Ark rewilding Nederland ) and Marc Wilbers ( Call of
the wild media Network) about Co-existence
Presentation and debate by Daan Bos about the Debate on Coexistence with the Beaver.
The Dutch Lowlands as a Special Case co-existence with the Beaver.
Voor de deelnemers:
Transport lokaal in 2 personen busjes. Groep is maximaal 14 personen groot.

Noot: Geschikte treinen komen o.a. 15:40 of 17:40 aan in München Haubtbahnhof op 6 april

vertrekken o.a. 10:19 op 11 april.
